My Math Goals for Quarter 1

I will be able to:

Sort plane and solid shapes by: color, size, position, shape, sides, corners and faces.
Make patterns using numbers.
Describe a pattern by: color, size, shape, sides, corners, faces or AB pattern.

Identify a pattern and continue the pattern.
Count objects to 100.
Compare and put numbers in order to 100 e.g. 50 is greater than 45, 22 is less than 23, 16=16 and use the correct symbols > (greater than), < (less than), = (equal to).

Identify numbers using pictures, manipulatives, and number sentences e.g. 4 + 5 = 3 + 6, 8 – 4 = 6 – 2.

Count objects and numbers by ones and tens e.g. 45 = four tens and five ones.

Understand why and how to use the symbols +, -, =.

Create word problems for a particular number sentence e.g. One tree has 4 apples and the tree next to it has 5 apples. How many apples are there all together? 4 + 5 = 9.

Know when and how to set-up and solve a word problem.

Explain why I solved a problem a certain way.
